Wanted: Head of Production
Wolfstreet is a creative & production agency based in Amsterdam, specializing in visual content production. We develop impactful integrated campaigns and content for brands and agencies by utilizing our in-house expertise across strategy, creative, production, and post-production. Our clients include some of the most exciting brands, such as Takeaway.com, Vinted, Adyen, The Vegetarian Butcher, Picnic, and Catawiki.
Wolfstreet is looking for a Head of Production (fulltime) to lead our 4+ FTE production team in delivering high-quality content and campaigns for multiple platforms and channels. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on production experience, and operational leadership to manage both the business side and the creative output of the team. You’ll oversee a range of productions from TV commercials, photography to social content, working closely with directors, photographers, and our in-house creative team to ensure delivery of innovative and impactful content.
This position is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. At the moment, we do not offer relocation assistance.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a production team of 4+ members, including senior producers, producers, production managers and interns, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. You bring energy and inspiration to your team and other teams, motivating them to consistently improve and elevate the quality of their work.
- Production Oversight: Oversee the production of a wide array of content — from small-scale social content to large-scale, high-budget productions involving international locations, talent and partners. This could include virtual productions, on-location shoots, and high-end film productions.
- Project Management: Together with the Business Director & Creative Director (and other team leads), you will oversee the intake and feasibility assessment of new briefs. You’ll be responsible for creating smart project proposals that meet client goals and reflect realistic timelines and budgets, ensuring projects are set up for success from the start.
- Operational Oversight: Implement, manage and refine operational frameworks and workflows in our CMS and budgeting systems, continuously improving production processes to maximize efficiency and output. Align these systems with global best practices and adapt to the evolving media landscape.
- Client Relations: Play a key role in client interactions, ensuring all client needs are met while upholding Wolfstreet’s high standards of quality and creativity. As Head of Production, you’ll manage client expectations and provide client support throughout the production process, balancing both account management and production focus.
- Financial Management: Responsible for managing production budgets, controlling costs and margins, and ensuring profitability while maintaining the quality and creativity that Wolfstreet is known for.
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain relationships with service providers, international partners, directors, freelancers, and other suppliers. Handle negotiations and ensure smooth collaboration across projects.
- Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement in our technical workflows, identifying opportunities to innovate within the production process, from creative ideation through to final delivery.
- Reporting & Collaboration: You will regularly report to the Business Director and Managing Director, providing clear and concise reports and presentations that highlight (key) results, action points and areas for improvement.
- Experience: At least 8+ years of experience in film, content production, and integrated campaigns with a proven track record in managing high-value productions and complex interdisciplinary projects at a production company or agency of similar or larger scale.
- Production Expertise: Extensive knowledge and a proven track record in production (management), budgeting for large-scale projects, collaborating with international partners, and post-production and advertising. Additionally, you are well-versed in new production techniques, photography, and content distribution.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience in strategic leadership with strong organizational and planning abilities. You are skilled at making key decisions, setting a clear direction, and ensuring that all aspects of production align with both business and creative goals.
- Team Management Experience: Proven experience with managing and inspiring a diverse team, fostering an energetic, collaborative, and high-performing environment. You excel at motivating others, providing guidance, and ensuring that team members are empowered to succeed in their roles.
- Extensive Network: You should bring a well-established network of directors, crew members, suppliers, and production partners both in the Netherlands and abroad. Your ability to leverage these relationships will be key in securing the right resources for each project.
- Problem-Solving Capabilities: Comfortable working under pressure, with a proven ability to maintain oversight of multiple projects at various stages and solve problems on the fly.
- Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and deliver complex ideas and production strategies clearly and effectively.
- Pro-active mindset: You are assertive and proactive, with the ability to give clear, concise instructions and constructive feedback. You are strong in setting boundaries, managing expectations, and confidently making decisions in high-pressure situations to keep projects on track.
- Adaptability: Experience in navigating both traditional and innovative production techniques, with a passion for pushing the boundaries of content creation.
- Languages: Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Dutch is a plus.
