Van Gogh Museum – the world-renowned home of Vincent van Gogh’s works – celebrates the artist whose early style was shaped in Brabant, the region where Vincent van Gogh painted his first masterpiece, The Potato Eaters.
To mark the exhibition The Potato Eaters: Mistake or Masterpiece?, Wolfstreet was asked to bring the story to life.
After sifting through the 819 letters of Vincent van Gogh, we uncovered powerful reflections on perseverance, ambition, and belonging. Drawing exclusively from sentences in his original correspondence, we carefully composed a new letter, a tribute to his home region of Brabant, bringing his words back to where his artistic journey first began.
This newly composed letter became the script for the campaign film A Letter to Brabant. The film portrays a version of Vincent van Gogh moving through different moments of his life, reflecting on the hard work required to grow as an artist and the determination he showed in pursuing his goals – even in the face of setbacks.
